Show Up for Yazzie/Martinez: Hearing Details, Parking & How to Attend

The next Yazzie/Martinez hearing is Friday, September 4, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. in Santa Fe. We’re asking our communities to show up and help us pack the courtroom.

The Yazzie/Martinez case has been about something that should never have needed a court case to establish: New Mexico has an obligation to provide an education that meets the needs of all its children.

The work to hold the state accountable has continued through hearings, organizing, advocacy, and community action. Tomorrow is another opportunity to make our presence felt.

Hearing Details

Date: Friday, September 4, 2026
Time: 8:30 a.m.
Location: First Judicial District Court — Ceremonial Courtroom
Santa Fe, New Mexico

You don’t need to be an attorney or a legal expert to be part of this moment. You can come, listen, and be present.

We want to pack the courtroom. A room filled with families, educators, students, Tribal communities, advocates, and people who care about New Mexico’s children sends a clear message: we are paying attention, we are still here, and we expect the state to follow through.

Planning to Attend? Here’s What to Know.

Parking

There is no on-site parking at the courthouse, but there are nearby parking garages and street parking.

Railyard Garage
503 Camino de la Familia
About a 15-minute walk to the courthouse

The garage is located behind REI and next to Violet Crown. From the garage, head north and turn right (east) onto Montezuma Avenue. Continue three blocks. The courthouse will be on your left.

Santa Fe State Capitol Garage
485 Galisteo Street
About a 15-minute walk to the courthouse

Head west toward Galisteo Street, turn right onto Galisteo Street, and continue onto Montezuma Avenue.

Please note: The Santa Fe State Capitol Garage is available for public use except during legislative sessions and special events.

Street Parking

Street parking is also available throughout the surrounding area. If you park on the street, remember to pay the meter and check posted parking restrictions.

Give Yourself Extra Time

Everyone entering the courthouse will need to go through security. If you’re attending in person, plan to arrive early enough to park, walk to the courthouse, and get through security before the hearing begins at 8:30 a.m.

Can’t Make It to Santa Fe?

We’re pushing for people to be there in person because we want to pack the courtroom and show that our communities are paying attention.

But we know not everyone can make it to Santa Fe. If you can’t join us in person, you can still be part of this moment. Join the hearing virtually and watch along with us.
