Today, HB 182 passed the Senate Education Committee. Yesterday, HB 111 passed Senate Finance Committee. Now, with only two days left in the session, we need these vital multicultural bills to be heard on the Senate Floor.

Please call Senator Wirth and ask that he call HB 111 and HB 182 to be heard on the Senate Floor before the session ends. 

HB 182 calls on the Public Education Department to develop a plan to improve literacy and biliteracy programs, because we know reading is a critical skill that every New Mexican child should have.

HB 111 will help teachers in rural and small school districts gain access to the training and tools necessary to teach in New Mexico’s multicultural and multilingual classrooms.
